This is an artistic journal I kept as a study on whales. I wrote mostly on whale falls (when a whale dies and sinks to the bottom of the ocean). Whales are so huge that, in the right conditions, their corpses become self-sustaining ecosystems that can last for decades. I focused on many creatures that are found to live in and around whale falls. Among other topics I also studied some whaling ships and native american art. My main goal with this journal was to translate what I learned into a way I would best remember it. I did this mostly with comedy. I frequented the New Bedford Whaling Museum and the Edna Lawrence Nature Lab on this project.
